delta
Trips when the current value diverges significantly from the recent trend.
How it works
Detects divergence from a recent moving average. It uses an Exponential Moving Average (EMA) to establish a baseline; sudden shifts away from this trend trigger the breaker even if absolute thresholds are not met.
When to use
- Early warning for rapid service degradation.
- Catching spikes where a fixed threshold is too high to be useful.
- Monitoring metrics that drift naturally but should not shift abruptly.
When not to use
- Highly volatile metrics with frequent natural jumps.
State explanations
